"It is simply impossible to lead, without the aid of prayer, a virtuous life" - St. John Chrysostom
The Catholic Chaplaincy would like to invite you to a day of prayer, fasting, praise and thanksgiving. Join us on Wednesday February 7th from 10am - 5pm for praise & worship, rosaries, Mass, adoration.
In preparation for the Day of Prayer we will be holding a Prayer and Fasting Talk on Wednesday February 6th at 1pm given by our newest staff member Justin Beers.
Bring all your prayer intentions with you on a piece of paper. We would like to pray for your needs, the needs of your family & friends, the church and the York Community.
Why do a Day of Prayer and Fasting?
The Church and the world are in desperate need of prayer. Sometimes there are many things in our lives that need prayer as well, but we get so busy with life that we don't get the chance bring our requests and needs to God. Scripture asks us to pray continuously. Prayer can change us and change the world. We can all pray individually but when we come together as a community to pray and intercede, amazing things can happen.
Fasting strengthens our prayer. You can fast by only eating and drinking bread and water all day long. Or you can fast by eating two small meals, and one larger one (as long as the 2 smaller together don't equal the larger).
Specific intentions for the Day of Prayer:
Prayer for the Holy Father, Cardinal Collins, Bishops and Priests
Prayer for the Universal Church
Prayer for CCY and the York Community
Prayer to end abortion and euthanasia, for the sick and dying, for souls in purgatory, for recently departed loved ones
Prayer for personal intentions, for those in our homes and in our families
