Closing a Joyful Chapter: 50 Years of Faith, Friendship & Mission
What a joy it was to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Catholic Chaplaincy at York University with so many of you!
From the moment the room filled with CCY alumni, students, families, friends, and longtime supporters, the atmosphere was electric with faith, gratitude, and joyful reunion.
We were honoured to celebrate a beautiful Mass of Thanksgiving with Bishop Ivan Camilleri, joined by Fr. Allan, Fr. Marc S., Fr. Francis, Fr. Brenton and Fr. John-Paul Bolger! Together we gave thanks for the many blessings God has poured out over the past five decades of chaplaincy ministry.
The celebration continued with a vibrant banquet featuring inspiring testimonies, heartfelt stories, trivia battles, joyful laughter—and an epic 400-photo slideshow capturing moments from every era. Even the youngest guests stole hearts, already claiming their place in the CCY family.
Over the past 50 years, CCY has become a spiritual home away from home for generations of students—and it’s all thanks to the prayers, love, and generosity of people like you.
Let’s keep this going - for the next 50 years!

CCY Kicks Off Anniversary with Alumni Picnic
Saturday, June 22, 2024 marked a significant milestone as alumni from the past five decades gathered for a celebratory picnic to kick off the 50th anniversary of the Catholic Chaplaincy at York University (CCY). Hosted on the picturesque grounds of St. Patrick's Parish in Brampton, the event was a resounding success.
A Day to Remember
The alumni picnic was not just a reunion but a celebration of the lasting influence that being a part of a Catholic chaplaincy during university has had on individuals and their wider circles. Friends, families, and children of alumni joined in, reflecting the enduring influence of CCY's community spirit.
Fr. John Paul Bolger, Chaplain, shared his gratitude:
"It was a blessing to witness the profound impact that being a part of a Catholic chaplaincy during university has had, not only on the alumni but also on their friends, families, and children who were present at the picnic. Thank you to everyone who attended in person and in prayer for making this day and milestone for CCY so special. Your presence and spiritual support are a testament to the strong bonds that unite us in faith on and off campus."
Looking Forward
The celebration was not just about reminiscing but also about looking ahead. The Chaplaincy community is excited for many more years of faith, service, and community.
