CCO Faith Studies

Our most popular offering at the Chaplaincy at York are Faith Studies. Faith Study groups meet in a small group of about 4-6 people for one hour a week for six weeks exploring questions such as "What do Christians believe about God?", "Who is Jesus Christ?", "Why is He so essential to the message of the Christian faith?" and "Why is faith in God even relevant in my life today?" These questions are explored through an introduction to the Christian Bible.  Faith studies are also a great way to meet new people and ask questions about faith in a relaxed and comfortable environment.  They are open to people of all faith backgrounds - you do not have to be Christian to attend one.  And the best part is that there are multiple choices for days and times, so they can fit in with your school/work schedule.

There are very few chances in life that you will get this opportunity to get your questions answered - so what do you have to lose?

Catechism Studies

For hundred’s of years catechism’s have been used to teach and understand the Faith. In both Protestant & Catholic Church’s the Faith was also handed down through short Q & A format.

The 2020 Catechism of the Catholic Church is an indispensable assistant to reading Sacred Scripture. In it the theology of the Church is distilled in small chunks that can be understood by the first time reader while also satisfying the learned theologian.

CCY provides instruction on an ongoing basis with explanations of the Catholic Faith from the Church Fathers, Doctors, Ecumenical Councils and Pope’s, all whom are found in the Catechism.

The Scriptures can never go without a proper explanation, and so we help students to understand the basics of Bible study through the Catechism.

Book Studies

God has given the Church many amazing teachers, preachers, professors and authors. CCY provides many books every year for FREE to students to help them grow in their understanding of the Catholic Faith. There is a major need today for students to understand the controversial issues that the Church is often attacked over.

Issues related to St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body and dating, sex and emotional chastity are not things you often hear in the mainstream media and bookstores. However, the Church has been teaching on these topics for many decades.

Issues around why be Catholic and not one of the many Protestant stripes has to do with Confession or the Eucharist. These topics have been covered, and continue to be covered, by many excellent writers down to this day.

Whether the issues are around Atheism, Inter-faith discussion, Ecumenical conversation or a particular hot topic, the Church has answers that are rigorously logical, but sometimes they take a few weeks to examine.
